>> BUYING AN INSTRUMENT
All instruments are subject to a two-week approval period. They are covered by a guarantee for a period of six months from the date of purchase against any defects or issues that may arise (excluding wear and tear and accidental damage). In the unlikely event such problem occurs, the instrument will be either repaired and adjusted at no cost in our workshop, or full sale price will be refunded if the customer wishes to return the instrument.
Instruments bought from our shop can be traded against another instrument of higher value when upgrading, and the full original purchase price of the instrument traded in will be deducted from the price of the instrument purchased, provided it is in the same condition as when it was originally purchased.
>> COMMISSIONING AN INSTRUMENT
To secure a position on the commissions list, a deposit of 10% of the price of the instrument will be required. From this point the finished instrument will typically be ready within one year. When the instrument is finished "in the white", the customer will be informed and given a delivery date. A further 15% deposit will be required at this stage. On taking delivery of the instrument, the customer has a period of two weeks to try the instrument and make a purchase decision. If the customer is satisfied, full payment of the balance will be required within 28 days. In the unlikely event the customer does not wish to purchase the instrument after the approval period and further sound adjustments, the deposit will be refunded.
All new instruments are covered by a lifetime warranty on all technical and structural aspects (excluding wear and tear and accidental damage). In addition, new instruments are serviced for a period of one year from the date of purchase at no cost. This ensures instruments continue to have optimal set-up during this important settling-in period. This covers set-up and sound adjustments and can include a new bridge and soundpost. The price of new instruments is £3,500 for violins and small violas, and £4,000 for larger violas. These prices are for commissions based on models currently used in the workshop. An additional £500 will be added to the price for new models to cover the cost of creating the corresponding forms and templates.
>> RENTING AN INSTRUMENT
Instruments with a sale price up to £1,500 can be rented. The minimum rental period is three months. The rental fee is calculated on the basis of 5.20% per quarter of the sale price (and is payable quarterly). In case the customer wishes to buy the instrument at the end of the rental period, 50% of the total rental fees paid will be deducted from the sale price.
